“”Birdcage” is really a song about what happens when a relationship ends with somebody dying. It’s really about how relationships within a family or romantic relationships keep us caged in a sense. And then when the cage is gone, we realize, in a sense, who we are. It’s a very personal song and speaks a lot to the issues of freedom and confinement that we rotate in our lives and then attempt to define ourselves.”Dave Eggar (13)
